Welcome to our Home

Welcome - Our home, an English Tudor built in 1977, sits on two and a half acers of land. It boarders the 2,000+ acer Paugussett State Forest, and until 1996, there was not a tree, shrub, bush, or flower that was planted after 1977. When we moved in on April 15th, 1996 that all changed. It was our goal to design and build a landscape that was worthy of this house and the great piece of land that it stood on. For the past 25 years the landscape has grown, evolved and transformed itself to what it is today.

Things always start small - It was simple, my instructions clear, dig up all the Poison Ivy that was climbing outside of our kitchen door. A few hours pasts, the ivy was all gone, but a hole remained. What better way to fill a hole, but with some water. But the hole was not big enough for my liking. Three days later I was still digging! It is now a staple of our back yard measuring some 50’ in length. Home to hundreds of frogs, cat tails, water iris, and an array of oxygenating plants.
Turning into a labor of love - From the we worked our way outward from there. Flowering plants was the next on our list. We discovered that hydrangea of all types love the soil that we have. Ornamental Grasses, Avalanche, Zibra, and Flowerwood, also thrive. The best part about grasses is they can be split endless times and transplanted. Another find was that the Japanese Maples my mom brought up from Long Island also thrive in our soil. The secret is to plant them small and give them time. You will find a dozen or so of at least three varieties across the backyard. The last shrub I will mention is the Rose-of-Sharon, produces 100’s of flowers, grows and spreads quickly. The Mimosa Tree, normally an invasive tree, but not with the coolness in New England, is a hearty tree with pink flowers. It grows 3-4’ a year and humming birds love them so keep an eye out for them. You will also find Bambo down near the firepit. I have seen a single Bambo shoot grow three FEET in a single week.

Creating the perfect Staycation - We created a destination where we could entertain family & friends. Where everyone could kick back, relax, and enjoy the activities. The perfect design delivers many of the amenities that we enjoyed on vacation, now we could enjoy every day.
In 2007, my wife and I started the pool & landscape design of our dream destination. It took some doing to first find a pool contractor that understood what we were asking for, then challenge again, in finding a pool contractor which could take on the job. Well they worked through the cold winter and heavy snow; and in late spring of 2009, the kids jumped in for the very first time. My oldest, of course, just had to take the first jump off the waterfall wall and splashed into the water below.
Spreading the experience - The kids have grown up, we all still use the pool and all that it offers. All who have visited these past 12 years have really enjoy themselves, many first timers are in amazement with everything there is to do. We got to thinking that maybe this is a good time to let others have the same experiences. Let the air be filled with sounds of kids enjoying themselves. Don’t take our word for it, book a party today. Don’t have a party coming up to celebrate, then just take the family and maybe some friends out for the ultimate in extreme pool experiences.
